Forage in Your Backyard- Tuesday  July 12th 6-7:30pm. To Forage is to wander for food in the wild and in the class, we discuss how to forage, without ravaging, in our own backyard or other wild places. We will learn how to identify garden weeds, medicinal, edible, and aquatic plants that are native or introduced to the PNW as well as their traditional uses. Join Biologist, Kerri Bailey, as she shares her 30+ years of wild crafting experience harvesting, drying, storage, recipes, and conservation concerns.  Class includes handout, eBook, and edible plant list. DIY Fountains and Water Features-  Tuesday July 26th 6-7:30pm. There are so many unique ways to bring the element of water into the garden as well as sizes and styles that won’t break your bank.  Join pond expert Kerri Bailey, as she shares her 20+years’ experience in the water garden industry with you explaining the basics of construction and care. Learn how to design and maintain fountains, bubblers, container gardens and small ponds with waterfalls that can be built or assembled in a few hours up to a couple of days.  Class includes handout, eBook and design consultation. Water Harvesting Techniques-  Tuesday August 9th 6-7:30pm. Efficient water use is increasing in importance. Rainwater harvesting is an innovative approach that can help to capture rainfall using it for landscape irrigation and many other uses, especially during our dry summer months. We will examine rainwater harvesting and storage techniques as well as stormwater management and rain garden design and construction. Class includes handout, eBook and design consultation. Pollinator Gardens - Sat. 6-4, 10-11:30am. Attracting Bees, Butterflies & Hummingbirds is not just for old fashioned cottage gardeners! Learn how you can create a gorgeous, easy care garden with increased fruits and vegetable yields while attracting pollinators-butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and other beneficial insects. We will also discuss how to create micro-prairies using native grasses and flowers and other sustainable habitat areas and survival elements. Students will learn which Native Bees (mason, leaf cutter & beneficial), Hummingbirds & Butterflies are local to our area. Includes an eBook and Handout.
