Fall Gold Ginkgo

We now carry Fall Gold Ginkgo leaves and is an important herb for several of our tea blends and tinctures. This is my favorite form of Ginkgo, which is grown in the US and harvested while the leaves display their yellow & gold fall color. Usually when you purchase Ginkgo, it is grown in Asia and harvested during the summer when the leaves are green. It is thought that the gold leaves picked at the height of Autumn contain more medicinal properties than the green leaves.

Ginkgo has been one of the top 10 selling herbs in the US for the past 5 years. It deserves this popularity for the many uses and benefits. The tea and tincture have been used for Brain Issues (Alzheimer’s disease, Schizophrenia, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Depression, Memory Loss & Impairment, Parkinson’s disease), Cancer, Eye diseases (Glaucoma, Cataracts & Macular Degeneration), Tinnitus & Sudden Deafness, Erectile Dysfunction & Diminished Sexual Desire, Heart Attacks & Stroke and Multiple Sclerosis…..to name a few.

So for most people Ginkgo can be of major benefit, but there are considerations for use. Ginkgo can interact with several medications especially ones that thin the blood, NSAIDS over the counter anti-inflammatories, Anti-depressants and Insulin. Avoid Ginkgo if you are Pregnant, Lactating and before having any type of surgery. Consult with your doctor prior to taking.

If you have additional questions about Ginkgo or would like an Herbal Consultation, stop by Ubi’s on Tuesday, Friday or Saturday and if you prefer to email at herbelements@gmail.com.
