Green Rooibos, a super nutritious tea plant native to Capetown, South Africa has been enjoyed for about 300 years. Rooibos became popular during WWII when black tea was not available and has know become an important commercial crop in South Africa.

Rooibos is most nutritious unfermented -green vs red- containing 37 natural vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, no caffeine and low in tannins. Studies have found that Rooibos tea is also antiviral, antianxiety, antiallergy and may help combat age related mental decline. Rooibos is often given to children as a milk replacement to help ease colic.

You can enjoy drinking Rooibos tea anytime of the day, but the main benefits may be felt in the evening. Rooibos helps to induce sleep (especially when combined with other sleepy time herbs) by metabolizing Acetylcholine that causes our neurons to fire excessively causing wakefulness.

Rooibos is known to be a very safe plant for most people to ingest, although those with low iron and those with hormone sensitive cancers should avoid consumption.
